Polish architect Krzysztof Kotala has unveiled his ambitious but fitting designs for an elaborate underwater tennis stadium for Dubai. Inspired by Dubai's culture of revolutionary and unusual architectural projects, and knowing that it is the home of the increasingly popular Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Kotala said: "This will be something original. This should be somewhere where there is the tradition of tennis. Dubai is perfect for this idea."
The stadium would see a full scale tennis court with ample stadium seating set under water, with a glass aquarium ceiling that reveals the marine life swimming around above it. Kotala is yet to find an investor who will commit but is passionate about the project.
The technical viability of the project has not been revealed but with a string of underwater projects underway in Dubai already, it would seem that there is an appetite for life under the sea.
