Dalton Ghetti began learning how to carve at the age of 6. And now He now works as a carpenter as well as “sharpening” pencils as a hobby, while this hobby result in some really incredible work have truly knocked our socks off! Take a look at Ghettis creation of those tiny sculptures carved out of the fragile tips of pencils chair, mailbox, house, animals, it is hard to belive he can actually carve such detailed sculptures into pencil lead without the aid of a magnifying glass.
Many artists have used pencils to create beautiful pieces of work – but only one creates stunning masterpieces on the tip of one. Microscopic artist Dalton Ghetti spends up to two-and-a half years painstakingly crafting each handmade piece on the graphite of a pencil.
Not sure since when pencil carving becomes a trend. First we have some stunning miniature sculptures on pencil tip by Dalton Ghetti, then we have Hungarian artist and deviantART user cerkahegyzo manages to produce incredibly detailed sculptures by carving on pencil lead. Cerkahegyzo says his work is inspired by Dalton Ghetti, and now it has become a hobby and form of relaxation for him. Unlike Dalton’s carving is usually on pencil tip, cerkahegyzo’s work usually uses the middle part of the pencil body and create some complicated and delicate sculptures. The tools cerkahegyzo use are pretty simple: needles, razor blades, sandpaper, files, polishing stones and all varieties of pencils (e.g., HB, B, 2B, 4B), while the result is simply stunning and make the eyes wander back and forth.
You might still remember the Incredible Miniscule Pencil Tip Carvings by Dalton Ghetti we featured year ago, while today, there is another set of Amazing Sculptures on Pencil Tip created by German artist Ragna ReuschKlinkenberg. This project is driven by the campaign for Cicero, the most well known magazine for politics in Germany, a magazine dedicated to bringing politics directly from the source. Hence those carved faces belong to several world’s most important politicians like Obama, Merkel and Sarkozy.
