restaurant serving Hong Kong style food have employed robots to serve food as their staffs. The robots navigate their way around with optical sensors and serve the food to customers. The robots are also able to pick from 40 pre-made phrases in Mandarin Chinese to praise the customer.
Each of these robots costed the restaurant owner about 60,000 RMB/per robot. The owner of the restaurant Lu Dike explained he is positive that the robot can provide valuable long-term financial savings. According to Lu the robots have about a five-year lifespan, only costing him essentially 12,000 RMB per year and only four-hour charges for eight-hour shifts.
One of the customer surname Xu was so impressed with the service that he considered buying a robot for his family since after visiting the restaurant his son keeps nagging him.
